The Labour Commissioner’s office, Gandhinagar has sent one circular dated 26/02/2024 to all Deputy labour commissioners of Gujarat, asking them to ensure that all contractors who are having a labour licence (strength of 50 or above) file their consolidated annual return (CAR) on the portal http://www.col.gujarat.gov.in on or before 1st March, 2024.
In the event of non filing, it has been stated that show cause notices should be issued to such contractors asking them as to why their licenses should not be cancelled.
It is therefore advised that all principal employers/contractors should ensure that CAR is filed within the prescribed time limit to avoid any unpleasant scenario.

Notification fixing approval time for CLR and Inter state
The Labour, skill and Employment Department, Govt. of Gujarat has come out with a notification fixing maximum period in which a registration/licence application has to be approved under The Contract labour (R & A) act and Interstate Migrant Workmen Act. Accordingly any such application pending beyond 45 days from the date of its application will be deemed as approved. Necessary notification is attached.
